Full Name: Aeneas Phelan Steiner
Nick Name: Aen
Gender: Male
Race: Vampire
Age: 1243
Appearance
Hair Color/Style/Texture: Black/just past shoulder length, straight/soft
Eye Color: Blue
Clothing: Long black coat and black clothing underneath, or a camoflage suit
Build: Athletic, fairly slim
Markings: Phoenix tattoo on back of right shoulder, and one long blade scar over his heart
Powers: Apart from the norm for a vampire, Aeneas has incredible eyesight, and is more agile than most. He is also a decent telepathic, a fair telekinetic, and he has a considerable skill with illusions, though not anywhere near master level - his main skill with this is to make himself invisible and to sow confusion among his enemies. He is, however, a low grade clairvoyant of an odd variety - he can see just a moment into the future nearly all the time, giving him an incredible reaction time - literally negative, if one were to measure it. Finally, and perhaps his most useful ability in some situations, he has an exceptionally potent mental guard, and always has - something that has made him extremely dangerous on more than one occasion.
(Agility, Speed, Illusion (5), Hearing, Sight, Telepathy (2), Telekinesis (3), Intuition (2), Invisibility (2), Mental Guard (4), Stamina )
Origin: Germany
Personality: Aen has always been a bit of an eccentric, though always a friendly sort - more the sort of eccentric that makes jokes at random intervals and sometimes does silly things than the sort that is randomly mean or forces strangers to race across the desert for money that they dont get to keep. Beneath the silly and outgoing exterior, however, Aeneas is an extremely intelligent man, and when it calls for it - a cold and extremely efficient killer. This isnt to say he is all cold on the inside either - Aen has a very compassionate side as well, and will usually try to help where he can, if he can.
Background: Aeneas was always seen as a little strange by the other humans in his village, the son of the town blacksmith who was never interested in making shoes for horses, or other mundane tasks that were the domain of blacksmiths of the day, but always trying to make something new, always fascinated by the new tricks and the toys - especially firearms. After he finished his apprenticeship, though, there was little use for a tinkerer, and so for a few years he had to try and settle down, make things that were mundane to keep food on the table - even if they grated on his being. Things weren't all so nice back then, however, and after losing most of his family to a raid, and having his sister kidnapped by one of the 'knights' that led the raid, a burning revolutionary spirit awoke in the young blacksmith. He turned to ideas he had heard about miniature firearms - cannon that could be carried and fired by one man, and so he set to work making muskets, grenades, pistols - anything that could give the people an edge on the lords who decided they could take as they pleased.
For a few years it went well - the entire town was armed thanks to Aen, and the weapons meant all the fancy armor and martial combat training the soldiers had meant little to nothing - peasants were fighting nobility - and winning. It attracted a lot of attention, however, and soon a local coven became interested in the boys creations. He was taken from his town in the dead of night, and turned without an option, with the promise that he would be continuing his work. He was horrified at first, but the promise that his work would be continued, saving the people from those that would try to crush them, would be continued - some of the weapons he made would be given to the people, and for a time he was happy again:
Until he discovered the lie it had all been. They had been using the guns to kill the peasants that he had given them to, and even more, all across the countryside. For over a hundred years, Aeneas had been helping with the mass murder of thousands of people, and the news destroyed him. He took his newest model of pistol to show the elder, as he often did, but this time he brought it loaded, and for the first time, the mental block he had always kept hidden, never quite sure why, came into use. The man never saw it coming, and Aeneas blasted his head clean off. It wasnt long before he was pursued by the whole of that coven, and for almost two years he ran through the forests, always hunted, never able to rest and many times nearly killed trying to find a place to hide from the sun. That was until the day he stumbled into a remote part of the Black Forest, and vanished.
He didn't appear again to anyone until the American Revolution, when he came over at Valley Forge, taking with him his surprisingly advanced musket designs and a dead accurate aim, which he taught to as many as he could during that war. For the next two hundred years he made his home in America, though his penchant for fighting the nobility led him to get involved in almost every revolutionary war in the Americas and beyond, even into the 20th century, where he was very active as an operative for the USA and for his own purposes during both World Wars, and the Cold War. The second major point in his life, however, didn't happen until the very start of the 21st century. Aen had stopped fighting on his own for the most part, and was keeping to himself mostly, working on his designs for weapons and other technology with which he was constantly working, when he was approached by a group of people who claimed to know of a woman, one who was descended from the one that caused him so much pain - his sire - and who was continuing that trend of dark intent.
They also claimed to have the one person alive he considered a true friend, the one that had saved him from his former coven, who he hadnt seen in centuries but had always looked for, and they threatened him with her life if he refused the job.
Kill Stalina. Cut down the White Rose.
Aeneas hated the thought, but in the end he decided he had to do it, and so for years he worked on finding her, and years more on getting close enough, asking to have a talk with her, all the while keeping his guard - which had only gotten stronger - against her ever suspecting. As he talked to her, though, waiting for his chance, he realized he had taken a job he couldn't do. He couldn't kill this elder. They had lied about her descent, she was far too old, and even if they had been truthful... his friend would never forgive him. And for killing someone who deserved it so little, if she did at all, he would never have forgiven himself. He dropped the gun he had drawn when she turned her back, and told her what happened, expecting fully to die but at least she would know why. He let his guard fall for the first time in years, trying to prove he was not lying anymore. The blow he had been waiting for, however, never fell. Eventually he was accepted into the Coven, this time on the level, and he became the chief scientist there, this time working to defend a new home should it ever be necessary, and trying to repay his deception. He and Stalina remain the only ones that know what he almost did, and so he stays at the Coven, hoping someday he can repay her for being kinder than he feels he could possibly have deserved.
